Allowing ‘Host Only’ VirtualBox Guest to connect to the Internet

This involves installing open-source proxy server on your PC – once done, your VirtualBox ‘Host Only’ Guests can connect to the internet via your computer.

Step 1 > Install Squid-Cache for Windows – click here for link

Step 2 > Allow Port 3128 on your PC’s Firewall
firewall port 3128

How to configure your VirtualBox ‘Host Only’ Guests to connect to the internet via your PC ? 
Easy, in the diagram below :
192.168.1.1 is your PC,
192.168.1.101  and  192.168.1.102 are the VirtualBox ‘Host Only’ Guests

So on each VirtualBox ‘Host Only’ Guest in this example, you’d setup Internet Explorer to connect to the Proxy Server 192.168.1.1 on Port 3128 :

Once done – those VirtualBox ‘Host Only’ Guests will be able to connect to the internet via your PC!

      if your guest is VirtualBox – change network card setting in VirtualBox to `bridged` – restart your guest.

  1. I hope you’re going to reply immediately once you receive this, my question is simple and related to this topic “What if i we want to disabled the internet access from the pc, so it means to say that only the guest os’s can access the internet and the main os doesn’t have, is that possible?
